kutchhi handicrafts - an introduction

Kutch is a district situated on the north west coastal area of Gujarat. The people of Kutch are well-known for their fascinating art of preparing Kutchhi Bandhej (Tie and Dye), bedsheets as well as hand ambroidery (Bharatkam). The work is known as Ajarakh print, Batic print, Artistic leather mirror work, Designer hand ambroidered foot wear. The people of this area are well known for that survival and tolerance against natural calamities like earth quake, drought, etc. The speciality of the handicrafts of Kutch is , it is dyed from vegetable eco friendly colours like indigo, Jamun, Pomegranate, Eclipta (Bhrungraj), species of Acacia, etc
